STANDARD
GRADE: Guns are beaded to a medium luster. Blued guns have a matte
military-like appearance. Guns finished as
received, no polish. Plated guns are matte, silver gray.
DELUXE
GRADE: Guns are polished to a moderately high gloss. Blued guns
appear as better factory long guns. Plated and stainless guns have a soft, rich,
brushed luster.
MASTER
GRADE: Guns are mirror polished. Blue guns have a deep gloss similar
to Colt Pythons of old. Plated and stainless guns shine like mirrors.
NOTE: Plating prices do not include shipping insurance. The charges are based on round
trip to plating and value of the customized gun.
Alpha Precision does its own polishing:
stainless, and guns to be blued, plated, & color case finish. Guns to be blued or plated are farmed out
for the color/plate finish.
Other finishes & coatings: Color case hardening, Parkerizing, Robar NP3, Poly T, etc. are available. Deluxe and Master grades
of blue or plating are machine polished first. There is some very minor rounding of corners
and a general "softening" of appearance. I hand polish Master Grade finishs
followed by a very light buff when softening of marking will be excessive. If markings become too faint from from polishing, they can be
restored to nearly new appearance by engraving at reasonable cost. You
will be advised if this is necessary.
If desired, Alpha Precision offers HAND POLISHING: Deluxe (400 grit emery), and
Master (2000 grit paper). Master Grade work looks like pre WW II Colt and S&W. Will quote after
seeing, but expect three to five times comparable "Master Grade" machine polish charges.
